Humanoids will end certain dull, dangerous manufacturing jobs—and that’s a good thing. Lifting 50-pound totes for eight hours a day is a taxing, injury-prone task that’s very hard to fill, so let’s end it and give it to a robot. They’ll be better at it, and humans will be safer—which in turn benefits people's health, wellbeing, and careers. Pras Velagapudi, Chief Technology Officer at Agility, believes we’ll be better served by ending the debate over dangerous jobs going extinct thanks to humanoids and instead focusing on the new human jobs/functions that manufacturing is creating by streamlining the tedious "boots on the ground" work. In his view, the robotics renaissance done right can spark a human upskilling revolution that will unlock greater prosperity for human manufacturing workers.
