Information
Nearly everyone in the AI ecosystem has come to the realization that we cannot proceed along the ungoverned path that has characterized AI development. In the past month alone, we have witnessed rogue agents breaking out of corporate sandboxes to penetrate external websites, ad hoc bans on certain models because of their security implications, new US export controls on Chinese humanoid robots, and rising geopolitical tensions as Chinese models close the gaps on their US competitors. At the same time, the leaders of the AI industry are proposing their own rules of the road for AI development, leading to charges of industry capture or competition concerns. This keynote will set the stage for the succeeding discussions on AI governance throughout the day. It will explore the key political and technological obstacles that have prevented a global consensus on AI governance and how we can begin to govern our AI future.
